Summer Will Soon Be Over

WE CANNOT BELIEVE THAT SUMMER IS JUST ABOUT OVER!  IS IT REALLY MID-AUGUST OR ARE GREMLINS MESSING WITH OUR CALENDAR??

Mom grows tomatoes and lots of flowers!  The veggies are all grown organically; no pesticides & only organic fertilizers

I GUESS FALL IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND THAT MEANS OUR DAYS OF PUTTERING IN THE GARDEN AND PLAYING ON THE BEACH WILL SOON BE OVER.

I love to lounge in Ma's garden, it's so cozy!

WITH ALL SUPER HOT WEATHER WE'VE BEEN HAVING IN THE NORTHEAST AND ALL THE HEAT & HUMIDITY WE'VE HAD A RECORD NUMBER OF STAYING INDOORS DAYS.  IT WAS JUST TOO DARN HOT TO GO OUTSIDE & PLAY!

I love these pretty flowers, they're SO tall!

OH WELL, WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE THE BEST OF THE LIMITED SUMMERTIME FUN WE HAVE LEFT.  HIGH ON OUR LIST IS ONE MORE ROAD TRIP AND POSSIBLY GETTING AT LEAST ONE OF US OUT ON THE WATER IN SOME KIND OF BOAT.  THAT'S BEEN A GOAL OF MOM'S FOR QUITE SOME TIME, LET'S SEE IF SHE ACHIEVES HER GOAL THIS YEAR! (We're betting No, we are so NOT the canine versions of Michael Phelps, LOL!)

WE WILL SOON SAY GOODBYE TO SUMMER AND HELLO TO  THE BEAUTY OF FALL!

No too many more beach days for us.  They'll be replaced with romping in the leaves instead of on the beach!

From Adorable Puppy to Invaluable Service Dog

Every now and then while sitting at the local Starbucks gazing out the window, people watching, I see an extraordinary thing.  There is a group of people who routinely utilize the bustling town as practice for Guide Dogs in training.  Guide dogs fascinate me.  In fact all service animals fascinate me, it’s astounding that they can be trained for a life of service involving such complex tasks and decision making.

You can imagine my delight when I was given an opportunity to share a wonderful Info Graphic and companion article about Service Dogs, provided by Petco.  If you’ve ever wondered how Service Dogs help people and what it might be like to be a Service Dog trainer, this Info Graphic provides a snapshot of what that might look like.

By now we’ve probably all seen service dogs in action.  Service Dogs help sight-challenged people navigate the ins and outs of daily life.  They offer comfort to returning service people.  They are even able to alert some individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes when they might be in danger and need medicine.  But training a dog from puppy to lifesaving companion isn’t an easy task.  It’s unlike raising a pet that will be part of a family; Raising a service dog is helping instill the necessary traits and ethic to be a hardworking animal that is specifically attuned to the needs of an individual.  If you’ve ever thought about becoming a service animal trainer, or are interested in what service animals can help with, use this graphic to learn more.

Cool Your Dog Off With The Cool Pet Pad Self Cooling Mat!

The Dog Days of Summer have certainly been upon us haven't they?  We've had SO much hot weather and high humidity in the Northeastern U.S.  With a Siberian Husky, I'm especially mindful of her becoming over-heated, particularly when there's high humidity.

Icy rarely howls like this.  Thank DOG my husband comes home tonight!  Don't worry sweet dog, Daddy will be home in a few hours.  We'll go together to pick him up at the train station!  He'll be overjoyed to see his sweet little Husky.  Oh, and he'll be happy to see Mommy too, LOL!
