Your Dog Can Be Your Best Travel Buddy

Although it may feel like it will never end, we'll soon be nearing the end of the deep freeze that has made such a ruckus across most of the U.S.!  I know you must be dreaming of the warm weather that will soon arrive - just a few more weeks and you'll be seeing Spring blooms!  I bet you're also dreaming of the wonderful warm weather vacations you'll take!   As you dream/plan for your next vacation, will you be taking your dog along with you?  I hope so because your dog can be a great travel companion!

I thought I'd offer a bit of travel inspiration by sharing a few of my favorite photos of travel with my dogs.  We've travelled extensively with Isis and phoebe across the country  It's gotten to the point where we hate to leave them behind when we travel!

Phoebe proved she's no prissy girl when she made it up this mountain in Sedona, AZ

Nearing sunset, we reach the end of this beautiful hiking train in Sedona

Isis sits inside the famous Imagine Circle in Central Park's Strawberry Fields, a memorial to John Lennon

Isis in Central Park standing next to her idol, Balto, the last lead sled dog to reach Nome, Alaska, saving the town from a Diptheria epidemic during the Great Serum Run (aka Great Race of Mercy)

Isis chillin' on a beach in The Hamptons, NY

Phoebe refuses to get out of this super comfy bed during one of our road trips!

At the International U.F.O. museum in Roswell, NM.  The dogs weren't too sure about this place.

Up close & personal with a statue of one of our Founding Fathers in Colonial Williamsburg, VA

That was fun! Where to next, Mom!?
East Coast to West Coast, mountains to beaches and everything in between.... Take Your Dog With You!!  For tips on traveling with dogs, check out my post Road Trip With The Dogs.

Do you take your dog on vacay?  What's your dogs favorite vacation?

Jumping in on the MONDAY MISCHIEF BLOG HOP late in the game today, I couldn't find the hop until now!

We try to take the dogs with us everywhere we can, but sometimes they do stay behind. My husband and I always sit down and think about which would be less stressful for them depending on the trip.

I'm all for taking our pups along whenever we can! So far they have traveled to a few different states on the East Coast. We are definitely taking them to the NC coast sometime soon!

Oh wow! These are such gorgeous photos!!!! I would love to be able to travel, however my finances won't allow it right now. I do hope to be able to go some places in the future, and of course, bring my huskies!

Awesome pictures! The UFO museum picture made me laugh, I'm not sure what Haley would think of those alien models, lol! We almost always take Haley when we travel. Even though you have to make a few compromises along the way, it's much more fun having a dog along.

I wish more National Parks would allow dogs, but I can understand why they're not allowed in some areas.

You guys certainly do travel! So glad you visited Balto; he's one of my favorite statues in Central Park!

We try to take them whenever possible, the only time we don't is if there's an airplane involved because I won't put my Husky in the plane cargo, too risky! Thanks for stopping by Kelsie!

It will be a great trip! We drive between AZ and NY twice a year, we've got it down to a science! The AAA Pet Book is a huge help.

We travel cross country w/ our dogs and it works out great. We are experienced road trippers now! Thanks for stopping by!

Glad you like the photos, thanks! Traveling cross country with our dogs is actually cheaper than flying all of us! Also, I won't put my Husky in airplane cargo, it's too risky. 3 Huskies would be a lot to travel with for sure!

Thanks, the UFO museum was such a hoot! We couldn't believe they're dog friendly, and they were so nice & welcoming to us and our dogs! I think the "aliens" freaked the dogs out a little, especially the exhibit shown which make freaky noises, blows smoke, and the space ship "takes off" every few minutes. It's a riot!

Yes, we do travel a lot with the dogs. We love it. Balto is definitely my favorite statue in Central Park. I lived just 2 blocks from CPW for a few years, I really miss it, especially in Spring. Thanks for stopping by Susan!
