Have You Seen This Video of a Little Girl Controlling 6 Dogs?

I don't normally post on my blog on Saturdays, but I just saw this amazing video on the news today and had to share.  This little girl is so competent and capable, she's definitely got a bright future as a Dog Trainer!

It's no surprise that the video has gone viral, but the sad part is that, no surprise, a lot of misinformed people have been vehemently criticized the family for putting the girl in what they deem an unsafe condition simply because her family dogs are Pit Bulls.  We should all be so lucky to have a pack that is this well trained and well behaved!

Of course, some news channels were just chomping at the bit to make a sensation out of this and criticize the family.  One ignorant news anchor actually pointed out that the girl got "injured" because one of the dogs stepped on her foot - Really?!  My Husky steps on my foot every day!  Has that guy ever even had a dog?  If the dogs were Standard Poodles, Saint Bernards, Golden Retrievers, Chihuahuas, or any other breed, I would be having this conversation.

These dogs are beautiful and so is this incredible little girl!  The only thing I have to say to the people who have criticized this family is this:

STOP BULL-BASHING, PEOPLE!!!!!

What do you think of this video?  Would you applaud or criticize this girl's parents?  Please leave us a comment, we want to know what you think!

I decided, a little late, to join the Monday Mischief BLOG HOP!!

The thing that I didn't like about the video was the reactions of the dogs as she was "commanding" them. Being a +R person the stress signals that these dogs were exhibiting worries me. Clapping in their faces and yelling, etc.. To me it's unnecessary and if these dogs were of any other breed they might not take it as kindly. Bullies were bred to be great with humans and children in general and unfortunately putting up with abuse is another thing they are good at doing. I actually felt sorry for the dogs, tbh.

Someone is going to complain or find fault in everything. It's just how some humans live their lives. In the words of Taylor Swift; "The haters gonna hate, hate, hate,!" BOL! I think it's a cute video.

That's interesting. She was definitely firm w/ her commands to sit but I didn't get the impression that it was abusive or overly firm. Maybe she had to be extra firm because there were 6 of them & they were all males? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Lauren, and for thanks stopping by the blog !

I know right!? Thanks for sending us snorts today Lily & Edward!

Exactly! I love that lyric, it's so true. That kid is a far better trainer than I could ever hope to be! Gotta give her credit! Thanks for visiting us today, M.K.!

I will say clapping like that could be bad news, but I love this video though. And you have to be firm, especially when your that small. The dogs are obviously well trained, AND this reminded me a lot of my 4 year old.
I work with my daughter and my huskies every day. (only one husky at a time though) and she has taught them to sit when she has a treat. It is coming along wonderfully. I think it is super important to have your kids work with your pets too.

That's so great that you & your daughter work w/ the dogs together, I love that! I'd love to see a video on your blog of her working the dogs. I hadn't thought about the clapping being a negative action, Lauren M. in the comment above was saying the same thing. You both make a good point, I'll have to remember not to do that. Thanks for visiting the blog today Jenna!

Some of the people I respect had an issue with this scenario. So I don't know.

I was impressed. I've owned bully mixes and love grooming bullies. I find them to be sweet, wonderful dogs.

I couldn't agree more with you, Melissa (& Cathy!). Some people just have to criticize everything.

That video is phenomenal!

I also wouldn't clap, but if that's part of their sitting-routine, so be it. I actually watched the video twice to see if the dogs' body language showed signs of aggression or tenseness, but I didn't see any.

All the tails were laying on the floor in a relaxed manner while anticipating feeding-time. All the dogs' tails were equally relaxed while eating. That's an excellent indicator of how calm those dogs are ~ learned that in our basic obedience class.

I think it's a cute video! Though I can't comment from an educated point of view -- I have five cats who I can't keep in line at all! MOL! I think it's impressive that a little girl like that can command those dogs the way she did.

I was impressed by this little girl AND the dogs. She's being taught valuable lessons. I'm not an expert, so I can't comment on right or wrong, just that I was impressed. Glad all went well. Take care!

I'm certainly no expert, I'm just a little 12 lb mini Schnauzer, but a few things I noticed that was good:
1. Other little dogs running around so it's a family of big and little dogs with no obvious issues.
2. The little girl showed no fear. Very important for dogs to see no fear in humans and that no matter the human's size, that the human be the alpha, just sayin'.
3. She had her Mommy there the whole time.
Again, no expert here, but I know that there will always be critics. Not every situation is great for every person. We know what is best for us and they seemed to know what was best for them.
Thanks for sharing this! Pixel :)

So sad that people think like this... though it's never publicized, there are just as many , in fact more bites from Labs than pit bulls... yup... haters gonna hate!!

Amen to not bashing Pitties - there are always negative people out there - so sad but so happy that there are good folks too! I hope to see you in Nashville at BlogPaws this May.

I've heard comments both ways. I'm just in awe of how this child controls 6 male dogs at once without a problem. I wonder if those who don't approve would feel the same way if the dogs were a different breed? Thanks for stopping by Jana!

Same here, I've seen so many amazing Pitbulls at the shelter I volunteer for. It makes me so sad when they get passed over just because they're Pitties! Thanks for visiting the blog, Mary!

Great point, all the dogs were relaxed just anticipated chow-time! A few folks said they don't like the clapping, an interesting point I had never thought of. I'm so impressed by the video and this kid, amazing. Thanks for stopping by!

It is very impressive, and probably very empowering for the little girl too. I think it's great to build confidence & skill at such a young level. Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them said...

I agree! The girl & the dogs were very impressive. I can't imagine being able to control 6 male dogs like that. They are so well trained & well behaved, amazing. She definitely is being taught confidence and ability, which I love! Thanks for stopping by Jeanne!

Excellent points, I have to agree w/ all of them. Thanks for visiting us on the blog and for providing your thoughtful input, I appreciate that!

Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them said...

Absolutely, you are so right. If these dogs were a different breed, such as 6 male Labs I wonder if anyone would criticize the video? Thanks for stopping by!

Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them said...

Exactly, I can't stand that this beautiful, loving breed gets so much heat. We have so many great Pitbulls at the shelter that get passed over day after day just because they're Pitbull or Pit mixes. Makes me so sad. Thanks for stopping by, Carol!
